Assessment Creation

Respondus

Respondus 4.0 is an exam authoring tool for use in Windows. It allows the user to create, import and manage exams that can be used in eLearn and other learning management systems.

Specifically, Respondus makes it possible to:

  • Download publisher test banks
  • Import test questions created in Word or other word processors
  • Create exams based on downloaded or imported question banks
  • Incorporate media and equations in test questions
  • Upload exams to an eLearn course

Help with Respondus and eLearn/Blackboard

If you are having a technical problem with getting Respondus to work with eLearn/Blackboard, please contact Chemeketa Online Tech Support.

About Respondus Activation Password

Respondus requires a campus-wide password to activate the software before you can begin using it. Faculty should receive an annual email notification at the end of July with this information. The software will prompt users for the new password throughout the month of August. The old password will continue to work until the end of July.

How To Guides

Below are some support options to choose from including help manuals, quick start guides and training opportunities.

Respondus Lockdown Browser

Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within eLearn. Once students begin an exam they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL or access other applications until the exam is submitted for grading. Respondus lockdown browser is available for download at the same sources listed above. We encourage you to consult with a Hub Faculty member before installing Respondus Lockdown Browser.

Test Results & Feedback

If you require your students to use Respondus Lockdown Browser for testing please consider how you provide test results and feedback. Faculty can allow test results and feedback to become available to students after they complete a test. Lockdown Browser will not prevent students from printing or making copies of correct test responses if you allow this setting in the eLearn test options.

Force Completion

IMPORTANT: Avoid using the Force Completion setting in the eLearn test options. Students who are disconnected from taking their eLearn tests are not able to return to the test without faculty intervention. Consider limiting test attempts and make use of the test timer with auto-submit turned on.
