March 7, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
CRN 63246
Register at My Chemeketa
Location: Bldg. 8/Rm. 216
Intercultural competency not only enables faculty and staff to think deeply about how their communication styles, values, and assumptions impacts their relational capacity with students, but it also enacts a curriculum relevant in a global society. Participants will develop an understanding of how verbal and non-verbal communication vary across cultures, identify opportunities to use WICOR high engagement strategies in order to build a more culturally responsive learning environment, and practice interculturally competent communication in a variety of situations common in higher education. This session is appropriate for all faculty/instructors and staff in both academic courses as well as student services.
