Join the Center for Academic Innovation in Celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day
Thursday May 15th is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). This celebration marks the 14th year of raising awareness and promoting the importance of Digital Accessibility across the world..
Why the celebration? What makes it so important? While accessible materials are helpful for everyone (e.g. captions are used by 96% of students without hearing difficulties), for the over one billion people with disabilities, the ability to autonomously and easily access the digital world is essential for living an independent and equitable life and participating in everyday activities. We also have one year to make sure our materials are accessible and in compliance with the new Title II rules.
The Center for Academic Innovation will be hosting a GAAD event celebrating the work that Chemeketa has already done to make our materials more accessible and inclusive. Come join us to learn more about accessibility and some super simple things that you can do to make your documents more accessible. We will also be offering demonstrations, a gallery walk, some nifty swag – and tasty treats!
Join us for celebration and a nosh!
