Essentials of Online Instruction: Part 1
Workshop Description
Focuses on the pedagogy of online learning and prepares instructors to develop and shape instruction for an online course at Chemeketa. Addresses online course design, development, and related issues. The activities support course development that is aligned with established best practices as exemplified by the Chemeketa Quality Online Instruction initiative (QOI) and Quality Matters standards.

Workshop Description
Accompanies the hybrid course development process. Emphasis is on pedagogy and methodology of hybrid instruction and less on technology or eLearn tools. Examines course design practices for online and classroom instruction to prepare you for teaching a hybrid course at Chemeketa.

Workshop Description
Prepares new instructors for the remote modality, and to sharpen veteran instructors’ skills. Explores methods of communicating with remote students, techniques for managing the in-person and online components of a remote class, and strategies for engaging and assessing remote learners.

Accessible Document Creation
Workshop Description
This course is an introduction to Digital Accessibility and Document Creation.
This course consists of Five Modules:
- The first two will discuss why accessibility is important and provide information on some general accessibility principles that can help you as you start your accessibility journey.
- Following this introduction, the next three modules will focus in on specific document creation tools including:
- Microsoft Word,
- PowerPoint, and
- Google Suite.
This course was created to followed in order. However, you can visit the specific tools for guidance should you have an immediate need.

Liquid Syllabus: The Why and How
Workshop Description
A Liquid Syllabus can be a humanizing element that promotes a welcoming feeling for students at or before the start of a course. It lets students know they are supported by their instructor and sets them on a path for success by intentionally providing them with what they need to succeed, including a warm, friendly face. The liquid syllabus is a mobile-friendly website that you send to students the week prior to the start of class and is accessible without a login. In this course, you will learn how to design a liquid syllabus, what elements to include, tips to make the information welcoming and easy to read, and how to use it with your students.

Neurodiversity for Educators
Workshop Description
This course is designed to introduce educators (including faculty, staff, advisors, and librarians) to the history, politics, and key terms of neurodiversity and its relevance to higher education. Participants will explore the origins of neurodiversity in the Autistic advocacy community, learn the histories and definitions of key terms such as “neurodiversity”, “neurodivergent”, and “neurotypical” and explore the relevance of disability law and policy to neurodiversity. First-person perspectives from neurodivergent students and staff as well as classroom case studies provide real-world reference points and applications for this background. This course is ideal for educators who are looking to build their foundational knowledge of neurodiversity and set goals for working toward greater inclusion.

Accessibility Challenge
Workshop Description
Join us for this on-demand challenge and learn how just a few easy tweaks can make a huge difference for students.
For this challenge, you will be able to choose from a variety of different accessibility activities that will make you eligible for the stipend – or, you can work with Heather Mariger to create your own plan. The challenge generally takes around four hours to complete.

UDL Capstone
Workshop Description
The UDL Capstone is a chance to put what you have learned into action and share your results! Participants who complete all of the UDL Workshops and the Capstone will earn their UDL Certificate from the Center of Academic Innovation. Prerequisite: Introduction to UDL Workshop 1, UDL Bootcamp, and UDL Workshop 5.
