Engagement Tools

The Center for Academic Innovation facilitates subscriptions for several online engagement tool that are available to Chemeketa faculty:

  • Kami
  • Kahoot
  • Padlet
  • SoftChalk

These tools can be used in most teaching modalities and provide excellent opportunities to engage students in new and interesting ways. They can also be used within Canvas for easier student access.

Kami

is a document annotation tool that integrates with Canvas, so you can create a Kami assignment and grade it in SpeedGrader.  

Common Uses

  • Modifying or annotating PDFs
  • Social Annotation- collaboratively annotate a document or image
  • Live or asynchronous virtual whiteboard

Padlet is an online discussion board where instructors and students can share and engage with each other in a variety of formats such as text, video, links, and audio.

is an online, student-response tool that actively engages students in a variety of ways.

Socrative is an interactive web-based response system that can help spark conversation and learning through user-created polls and quizzes.
