GenAI in the Classroom featuring Tim VanSlyke

Tim VanSlyke, ESOL, uses Mizou, a site that lets teachers set up customized AI chatbots. Tim creates weekly chatbots that correspond to the discussion topics for individualized practice and feedback.

He also uses it for listening/speaking practice by creating a bot that dictates sentences to students, records them, and then gives them feedback on their recordings.

Tim says that students really like it and report that they enjoy interacting with the bots. It gives them a safe space to practice their English without fear of making mistakes.
