Humanizing Learning with Technology

Our theme this year is Humanizing Learning with Technology. Each of the sessions in this institute is aimed at strengthening instructor presence through tools and design to better connect with learners. 

  • Dates: Wed, June 28 & Thur, June 29 (10 am – 3 pm)
  • Attendance Options: Remote and In-Person
  • Locations: *Salem Campus and remote via Zoom
  • CRN: 18901 (register via My Chemeketa by June 9th)

Lunch provided for in-person attendees in Bldg 8, Rm 117.
Participating faculty will receive a $300 stipend.

Culturally Responsive Teaching & Learning

In partnership with Chemeketa’s Accelerated Pathways to Success (CAPS) grant, the Center for Academic Innovation is excited to offer full- and part-time faculty* a unique opportunity to deepen their practice with culturally responsive teaching and learning (CRTL). The Institute will also explore the intersection of universal design and culturally responsive teaching principles.

  • Who: All instructors who wish to attend
  • When: July 17-19, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
  • Where: July 17 will be remote
  • Where: July 18-19 will be In-Person at Chemeketa’s Woodburn Center
  • Register: via Google form by June 8th

We are especially pleased to welcome Jadi Omowale and Maura Hill from the Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning program at the Community College of Baltimore County. They will facilitate the second day of the institute focused entirely on the principles, practices, and tools for culturally responsive teaching.

Participants may earn up to 18 hours at the curriculum development rate. Compensation is based on both participation and development of curricular materials.

*Part-time faculty scheduled to teach during AY23-24 are eligible for compensation. Classified staff who teach part-time must participate outside of their regular work hours to earn compensation.
