Collaborate. Reflect. Improve Teaching Together.
A Community of Practice is a group of educators who share a passion for teaching and learning and improve their practice through regular collaboration. Research in social learning shows that communities of practice are a high-impact form of professional development.
What to Expect
Faculty participants will:

Collaborate with colleagues around a shared teaching and learning focus

Meet for at least six total hours over winter and spring terms

Apply and reflect on new ideas in their teaching

Create a brief artifact documenting their learning
Propose a Community of Practice
Do you have a teaching or learning topic you’d like to explore with colleagues? We are always seeking topic ideas and facilitators. CoPs, start winter term and conclude spring term.

Support & Compensation
The Center for Academic Innovation will:

Provide up to $200 in materials per group (if requested)

Offer meeting space and facilitation support
Faculty who complete the program will receive an honorarium equivalent to six hours at the special project rate. Additional honoraria are available for facilitators and Fall Faculty Retreat presenters.
Possible Topics
Examples include antiracist pedagogy, assessment, Universal Design for Learning, student motivation, generative AI, and more.
How to Get Involved
Once topics and facilitators are identified, a sign-up form will be shared with faculty.
