Chemeketa’s Center for Academic Innovation is pleased to announce that we have received extraordinary funding via the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund. The purpose of the funding is to support “equitable and innovative approaches to distance learning.” The grant is managed by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) and allows us to pay registration fees for workshops, conferences, and online courses.

Due to the unique opportunity the grant allows, we are able to compensate all faculty for participating in our in-house workshops addressing equitable and effective remote and online instruction. All faculty will be paid at the meeting rate for participating in Universal Design for Learning, Zoom for Instruction, and Accessible Design workshops.* We will continue to offer these and similar workshops throughout spring and summer.

Faculty can also access additional funding to pay registration fees for external professional development opportunities. We’re curating a list of professional development opportunities related to improving distance learning and promoting equity. If you’d like to take advantage of any of these opportunities or have an activity of your own in mind, submit a request.

We are thrilled to be able to make these kinds of investments in your professional development and look forward to seeing their impact.

*Note: Canvas training is currently not eligible for these grant funds.
