Remote Instruction Faculty Training

Fall term always brings a sense of new beginnings and fresh starts, and this year is no different. As we all continue to adapt to changes brought by the pandemic,  we acknowledge changes to the way we teach and learn here at Chemeketa. The remote modality became our only option almost literally overnight. Now, as we leave some aspects of “pandemic life” behind us, we are realizing that remote teaching and learning is still a viable option for many instructors and students.

Faculty within the Center for Academic Innovation have created a self-paced Remote Instruction Workshop designed to prepare new instructors for the remote modality, and to sharpen veteran instructors’ skills. Participants will explore methods of communicating with remote students, techniques for managing the in-person and online components of a remote class, and strategies for engaging and assessing remote learners.

The Remote Instruction Workshop will begin on Monday October 17, and faculty will have all of fall term to complete it.
