Follow Up: Communicating with Students

Hi there,

We’ve received numerous questions from faculty about how to maintain privacy when calling students. Until the college has other platforms in place (e.g. google voice), the best option for telephone privacy is to temporarily block your phone number when calling students. This is the same protocol being used by other college staff when communicating with students. 

To block your phone number, simply dial *67 before the phone number you are calling and it will temporarily deactivate caller ID. On the receiving end, the caller ID will display “private number” rather than the phone number you are using.
