Mark your calendars for the Tech Fair and Faculty Retreat

This year we are back in person. We will be hosting the Tech Fair Wednesday, September 14 from 1:30-2:30pm in-person in building 9. The Faculty Retreat, taking place Thursday, September 15, will have options for remote or in-person attendance at Chemeketa Eola.

Register for Addressing Racial Anxiety in the Classroom

The Center for Academic Innovation is excited to welcome Jen Moore, social justice educator and equity consultant, on Monday, September 12 for a special seminar addressing racial anxiety in the classroom.

 Participants in this seminar will be more fully equipped to spot the signs of racial anxiety and feel more confident facilitating conversations about race as it relates to their subject matter.

 This in-person, onsite seminar is delivered in two parts: The first two-hour workshop identifies and gives shape to what racial anxiety is–how it functions and why it shows up. The second two-hour workshop explores 10 pedagogical practices for managing and mitigating racial anxiety in the classroom.

NISOD: “Implementing the Student Experience Project (SEP): Strategies to Build Equitable Learning Environments”

 Monday, September 26, 11:00 am-12:00 pm

 To ensure the success of every student who is pursuing their academic goals, the Student Experience Project (SEP) uses innovative, research-based practices to build equitable learning environments and instill a sense of belonging in students on campuses across the nation. Recommendations from the SEP include ideas to increase belonging, practices to foster academic encouragement and growth mindset, and ways to cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom.

 Free for Chemeketa faculty and staff. Create a NISOD account if you do not already have one. Use your Chemeketa address.

Join us for our Assessment Boot Camp

Dates: September 7-8, 2022, 9:30 am – Noon

 Just in time for Fall, the Assessment Boot Camp is a focused look at assessment methods. The 2-day intensive will include workshops and collegial discussion around various course-level assessment approaches. The Boot Camp will also launch our Assessment Challenge, a 2022-23 opportunity for significant assessment work. Details on the Assessment Challenge will be announced during the boot camp.
