We are in the process of updating the Kaltura Media Player to a new version in Canvas and our Kaltura MediaSpace website. Below are highlights of new features and improved functionality.

Interactive Transcript

If your media has closed captions available viewers can choose to display an interactive transcript alongside the video. The transcript will display a highlight over the current point in time. Viewers can click on a timestamp to skip to that point in the video. Viewers can search for keywords which will show a list of results. There are additional options to print or download the transcript as a text file.

Customize Closed Captions

If your media has closed captions available viewers can toggle the captions display on or off. There are additional options to customize the captions style such as font size, font color, font family, background color, and background opacity.

Navigation

Navigation allows viewers to search for keywords within the video which will display a list of results. They can click on a search result to skip to that point in the video.

Video Playlist

The Kaltura Media player can display a playlist of videos alongside the current video. Videos will play as a sequence one after another. Create playlists from the course Media Gallery tool in Canvas, or from the Playlists page on the Chemeketa MediaSpace website.

Video Quiz

The video quiz appearance has been improved in the new player version. Viewers can complete an interactive video quiz to demonstrate understanding of content. See instructions on how to create video quizzes to learn more.

Picture-in-Picture / Side-by-Side

Viewers can choose to view multi-stream videos as picture-in-picture or side-by-side. Use the Kaltura Personal Capture software to record your webcam and computer screen for creating multi-stream content.
